Prevention Funding Update
On May 29, 2007, the Arizona Department of Health Services extended SAAF’S contract for the Syphilis Elimination Project (SEP) until May 31, 2008. Funding for this critical program which targets Latina’s in South Tucson and men who have sex with men in all of Tucson was due to expire on May 31, 2007.
In addition, on June 20, 2007 the Steve J. Miller Foundation awarded a $2,000 grant that will provide program support to the SEP program. Gifts made by the Steve J. Miller Foundation, now totaling $13,000, have enabled SAAF to provide gay men in southern Arizona with life-saving HIV and STD prevention programming by reaching them with important messages regarding their overall physical, mental, spiritual and sexual well-being.
We thank both the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Steve J. Miller Foundation for their continued support of SAAF and our prevention efforts.
